Straton Industries Named a Top U.S. Machine Shop
Stratford, Connecticut, August 1, 2019—Straton Industries has been named one of four Honors Program winners in association with Modern Machine Shop magazine’s ninth annual Top Shops benchmarking survey. Click here to see Straton feature article in the August digital edition.
Modern Machine Shop (published by Gardner Business Media, Cincinnati, Ohio) offers this annual survey to enable its readers — owners and managers of U.S. computer numerical control (CNC) machine shops — to compare their operations’ performance and practices against industry leaders. The survey is divided into four primary sections: machining technology, shopfloor practices, business strategies and human resources. An Honors Program winner is chosen for each of these categories, and Straton Industries, manufacturer of precision machined components primarily for the aerospace industry, was named 2019 Honors Program winner for machining technology.
“Each year, Honors Program winners are vetted and selected by me from a top-tier benchmarking group established from answers to select survey questions,” says Derek Korn, Modern Machine Shop’s executive editor and technical director for the magazine’s Top Shops benchmarking program and conference. “Straton Industries was selected as the machining technology winner for its wealth of in-house machining and manufacturing capabilities, which enables it to be responsive to customers’ needs. The company invested $1 million last year in advanced new machine tools and supporting software, and is close to investing at that level this year.”
Straton Industries President David Cremin will also be part of a panel discussion at the third-annual Modern Machine Shop Top Shops Conference (topshopsevent.com) held September 9-11 in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he will elaborate on ways the company has improved its efficiency and grown its business.
